Powering production at Mount Polley with help from Komatsu technologies

To help keep operations moving efficiently, Mount Polley recently purchased two new Komatsu D375A-8 crawler dozers.

The D375A-8 crawler dozers are built with versatility in mind. They are designed to handle the harshest mining environments.

The dozers are equipped with Komatsu’s U.S. EPA Tier 4 Final emission regulation-compliant engine that boasts 609 hp at 1,800 rpm (455 kW at 1,800 rpm). The engine also features an auto idle stop function; dual Komatsu diesel particulate filters (KDPFs).

"Mount Polley is familiar with Komatsu equipment, having purchased multiple pieces for their fleet over its years of operation,” says Jason McCleery, mining sales representative for SMS Equipment.

Mount Polley has invested in a variety of SMS technologies over the course of its mining operation including several Komatsu D375A-6 crawler dozers; PC3000 and PC4000 series mining excavators; D85PX-18 crawler dozers; and PC400 series excavators.

Mount Polley mine is 100-per-cent owned and operated by Mount Polley Mining Corporation, a subsidiary of Imperial Metals Corporation. Imperial is looking forward to continuing its mining operations in the region.

“Imperial continues to provide meaningful benefits to the local First Nations and the surrounding communities who work with and support Mount Polley,” the company stated.
